ARHSN exists in large part to protect a freedom that can never be taken for granted. We believe the education of a child belongs to that child's parents, not to the state, and that home education is strongest when it remains independent, privately supported, and free from government oversight. Advocacy is how we help guard that freedom, for the families of today and for the generations still to come.
Parental authority. Parents, not the government, hold the God-given responsibility to direct the education, formation, and discipleship of their children.
Educational independence. We advocate for home education that stays free from public funding, and from the government oversight and mandates that so often follow it.
Informed citizens. An informed family is a free family. We work to keep Arkansas homeschoolers accurately and promptly informed on the issues that affect them.
Capitol Day is our signature advocacy event. Families gather at the Arkansas State Capitol to meet their legislators, learn how the process works, and show our state that homeschool families are engaged, united, and here to stay.
One of ARHSN's core commitments is to watch the legislation and policies that affect Arkansas homeschool families, and to alert our members when their voice matters most. Freedom is preserved by families who pay attention and are ready to speak up.
